In March of 1979, a group of 12 women living in Wimberley recognized the increased needs of a rapidly-growing community. They gathered and discussed forming an active service organization, The Community Civic Club. It was their purpose to "nurture a strong community spirit, to be ever aware of our community's needs and services, and to welcome newcomers."

These 12 women laid a solid foundation to the current organization of the Community Civic Club; they also began the tradition of service and financial support to the community through their first fund raiser in 1981. The Civic Club has grown to 200 comprised of long time members and new led by an elected board. Every year members come together to welcome new members, form and continue friendships as we raise funds for the community through the Hill Country Home Tour, The Style Show and Market, Breakfast with Santa, Tablescapes and Spring Events. Our dedicated members offer their time, talents, and resources as we progress through the year. In the spring we all gather to celebrate the fruits of our labors by sharing our proceeds with local non-profit organizations and college-bound seniors.

The Year in Review 2025-2026

 

In our 47th year, we followed through with our Civic Club goals to “Connect, Have Fun, and Do Good”. We continued to hold our monthly meetings at the Wimberley Methodist Church where an always delicious lunch was prepared by talented Pat Lundelius! The Club welcomed presenters to highlight a variety of grant recipients. This included guest speakers from the Freedom Canines International, Project Art, the Schoolyard Dogs, and Wimberley EMS who spoke about emergency preparedness. We also heard from the Hays Caldwell Women’s Center, and happy to report that the club raised $2,938 to benefit the Center.

 

A major accomplishment for the Civic Club was a revision of the Bylaws. A special thanks goes out to that Committee. Active membership in the Club totaled 145 at the end of the year with 26 being new members. Shout out to Alicia Dedman for revamping the Club’s website to be more user friendly and efficient.

 

The Club is so appreciative of the volunteers support of fund raising efforts. The Style Show kicked off the years’ activities in September netting over $8,000. The Spring Events team offered almost 50 different experiences this year with a net revenue over $36,500. Special Events included concerts, Breakfast with Santa, Afternoon Tea, and the ever popular Trivia Night which together raised over $14,800.

 

The annual Home Tour sold 361 tickets and netted over $13,000 including the sales from the scarves and pins. The Partnership Programs’ primary focus this year was on raising donations from current members. Sponsorship increased this year to $45,515 from members and the Community.

 

Profits from fund raising benefited both scholarships and grants this year. Seventeen Wimberley seniors were awarded a total of $40,000 in scholarships. Twenty-seven local non-profit organizations received grants totaling $65,000. We thank all those who contributed to our Civic Club efforts to give back to the community in this way.

 

Under the second year of leadership of President Becky Williams, we thank all the hard-working Civic Club members who helped us achieve our goal!
