An introduction to geology, geologic processes, and identification of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. A section on fossils found in the area is also included. Rock samples and fossils will be available to examine. In addition, a "Geology in the News" section is included covering one or two recent geologic events making the news cycle. Attendees are welcome to bring rocks they have difficulty identifying. Each attendee will receive a hardcopy of the presentation that can be used to help them identify rocks and fossils.
